What is Owen’s Garage?
Owen’s Garage is a Christ-centered organization committed to discipling and equipping young people through hands-on experience in automotive work. We mentor and teach essential life skills, instill Godly character, and cultivate a strong work ethic—helping young adults grow into responsible, dependable, and service-minded individuals at home, in the workplace, and in their communities.
In Memory of John Copenhaver
On February 20th our friend, mentor, and dear brother in Christ closed his toolbox and went “home” for the last time. He leaves behind his daughter Mary, son in law, and granddaughter in addition to extended family members, and many other car, motorcycle, and Christ enthusiasts, 2 dogs, and 3 motorcycles.
John was raised a “Yankee” in Pennsylvania but came to Austin and became a Texan as quickly as he could. He served as an Assistant Director, mentor, mechanic, and vital component for the Owens Garage ministry for 10 years, worked as a mechanic for the City of Austin for 20 years, worked in several construction projects (including 3 Mile Island), rode with the WTF’ers MC of Austin, and attended a Cowboy church whenever possible. God brought John to us through a “random” divine appointment and thankfully he decided to stay with us a while and helped us tremendously…
